We were very pleased with the purchase of our new IV poles from Meditek. When the poles arrived we had our maintenance department come to our unit to assemble them and they were so pleased to see the design of the poles we purchased. Since receiving my Stallion headlight, I’ve used it in many cases. It has excellent illumination, which is adjustable between three levels. The headband is comfortable and fully and easily adjustable. The battery charging time is acceptable and the duration adequate for all the procedures listed. I find the best feature is not having a cable connecting me to a light source. The freedom this affords is quite helpful, and the lack of a footprint in the OR is a major benefit in limited spaces. It has been my pleasure to work with Meditek in the fit out of the nine Operating theatres in the McCaig Tower, Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. This was a very complicated little project in that the lights and booms were already installed in the theatres and it was a fully functioning OR dept before a contract was in place to have another company install the video integration into the lights and booms. Closing down 2 theatres at a time, we spent 2 weeks coring, installing conduit and cables, then a week for Meditek to lower their lights and booms from the ceiling level and working with the integration provider, pulling all the cables through the arms and booms to their designated locations. This was a very sensitive project under tight timelines and stringent IP&C controls as all other theatres in the suite remained fully functional while this work was carried out. I can honestly say that the Meditek team while working with their competition, worked above and beyond their contractual obligations to ensure the install was completed without any problems, the schedule was maintained, and patient safety was not compromised.
